Australia Day Celebrations

We have Andy's parents staying with us for a week from Sydney, and yesterday was Australia Day where the nation has celebrations all over with parties, bbq's and fireworks. This year we decided to do something big and join in the party on the Swan River. Taking the train in was exciting for the girls. We took a picnic, and lots of water as it was 35 degrees celcius. On the foreshore there was lots of free rides, which of course the girls had to go on each one. We were also entertained with planes doing aeronautical tricks over the river. There was multicultural music and dancing on the stage. The belly dancing was a hit with the girls and quit a few of the older males in our group. Just after the sun set we watched the sky come alive with the fireworks display. We arrived home tired, hot and sticky, but happy.
