Vintage Paper Doll Outfit No.1

Childhood memories came flooding back when I saw this sweet paper doll an op shop.
She stands at 35cm tall and came with several gorgeous outfits for the price of $2.00.

I'm going to keep her on my wall for a cheery Spring look.

Today she is in her flower girl frock.

Blooming Marvelous

My neighbours magnolia in all it's glory

The colour is so vibrant

I can view it from my window

I might even get some work done, when Miss Pixie lets me.

Flitting from one thing to the next, I seem to slowly be making some progress in the crafting area. I've almost finished this Scottie softie (his backside just needs sewing up).

Starting a new scarflette in moss stitch, this one I'm using two balls together for double thickness.

Some vintage Fuzzy Wuzzy that I was delighted to find in my travels. It is so soft it feels like cashmere, I have only one ball left to use for this scarf.

Now I just have to concentrate in finishing them, hopefully this weekend.

Vintage Finds

There is still one op shop that I know where I can find great things at great prices, however my jaw dropped when I spied this print, I couldn't pick it up quick enough.

I'm making a bit of a collection of old floral prints for my bedroom room and this one is just super.

I also clutched this book next to my chest when I found it on a shelf.  It's a small copy of Alice in Wonderland with lovely etchings throughout.

Pretty floral sheets, the lot for $5.00

How sweet are these all boxed and prettily folded.

I'm thinking of making them into a curtain but it seems a shame to use them, but then they just would get shoved in a draw just like they obviously had been before, at least this way they would then be viewed and admired daily

A Quick Snack

Hungry kids home from school and not a bikkie in sight to have with a hot cuppa.
Solution - Pikelets (drop scones)
Fun, quick and easy

We did leave a few for a hungry daddy.

Going Tribal

It's hard to believe but I discovered this and other amazing pieces of fabric in a plastic bag sitting by the curb destined for the tip along with other items a few weeks ago. As I was wandering by I saw the pretty colour's poking out from the top and decided to investigate. Low and behold as I delved deeper there was more and I knew there and then it was coming home with me.

I've washed them up and have been pondering what to do with them and the answer came this week when I saw two lovely ladies dropping their kids off to school wearing lovely tribal skirts. So I think that's what I'll do with this piece with the panel running down the front.

I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Train Spotting

The last few weeks we've been busy working on the house again and it's easy to forget to have some fun.

So on Sunday morning we decided to surprise the girls with a trip to the Dandenong's for a ride on Puffing Billy which we've never done as a family before. I was up at 7am making a veggie slice to take for lunch and I even managed to bake two chocolate cakes before we left at 9.30am.

Andy and I were reliving our childhood by being big kids and sitting on the edge with the girls, waving at people in cars as we went through crossings. It was so much fun even though at times my backside went a bit numb.

The ride to Emerald Lake took an hour where we stopped for some lunch a play and as a treat a ride on the paddle boats in the glorious sunshine. I was exhausted from peddling around for 20min, it's harder than it looks.

On the trip back the clouds came over it got colder and at times rained but we didn't care, our faces were beaming, we had such a fun day.

Baby It's Cold Outside

I awoke this morning at 6.30 to walk the dog and stepped outside into the cold clear early morning light. The air was crisp as we wandered along the creek on our usual trek. When we step over the rise of the hill we normally have stunning views of the city, however this morning it was as if it had been air brushed out. The city was completely gone, shrouded in fog which eventually crept towards us, so that by the time we walked home it had engulfed all the streets and homes.

Four hours later and the fog still hasn't lifted, but with the fire going, the pets and me are happy to be snug and warm inside.

Please excuse Miss Lucy, she's such a show dog.
