Train Spotting

The last few weeks we've been busy working on the house again and it's easy to forget to have some fun.

So on Sunday morning we decided to surprise the girls with a trip to the Dandenong's for a ride on Puffing Billy which we've never done as a family before. I was up at 7am making a veggie slice to take for lunch and I even managed to bake two chocolate cakes before we left at 9.30am.

Andy and I were reliving our childhood by being big kids and sitting on the edge with the girls, waving at people in cars as we went through crossings. It was so much fun even though at times my backside went a bit numb.

The ride to Emerald Lake took an hour where we stopped for some lunch a play and as a treat a ride on the paddle boats in the glorious sunshine. I was exhausted from peddling around for 20min, it's harder than it looks.

On the trip back the clouds came over it got colder and at times rained but we didn't care, our faces were beaming, we had such a fun day.

It looks like you had heaps of fun! You are right, it is so easy to get lost in the day to day and forget to take a moment to escape. I'm glad you did :) xx

We don't take time off from the reno work very often, and kids grow up so quick. Looks like you all had a wonderful time, lovely pics.
Your photos brought back memories of when we went on puffing billy...there must be so many similar photos around Australia of people hanging out of the train!! Sounded like a great day out.
