New Years Eve Breaky

This morning instead of cereal, toast, or hubby's fab, but fatty bbq breakfast, I thought it would be nice to end the year with scrambled eggs, which I added pieces of precooked bacon, grated cheese and finely chopped red onion. I was asked to add baked beans by one daughter, then avocado by the other, hubby buttered the toast with a lovely danish butter (no butter on mine, bummer, I've got to make some sacrifices to reduce my slowly expanding waistline).

We wish everyone a safe and happy New Year.

I've Won

Yippee!! I've won. I've actually won this fantastic prize of Frankie's Afternoon Tea Cook Book, A Dumpling Dynasty Baking Kit, A copy of Patisseries a Paris by Paumes Books, and A Classic Ladybird Books tea towel. All this from one of my favourite blog's, the gorgeous "The Lark".

I am so excited, not only is this the first prize I've ever won, but it is something I've been wanting to buy for myself. Thank you so much Allison from The Lark, I still can't believe it.
I'm going to have lots of fun sharing this with my family.

Currently Reading

I read "The Odd One Out" by Monica McInerney when I was in Bali, as a quick holiday read, which I enjoyed. I found this book by the same author in a secondhand store and thought I'd give it a go. So far I'm enjoying it but it will take me a while to get through it's a lot thicker and I only seem to manage a few pages in bed each night. I wish I had those cute jackets and scarves on the cover, they are just lovely, oh and the bag.

Christmas

Here I sit with a full belly, feeling slightly inebriated with home brew & bubbly, listening to cha cha music.
The day started with me waking at 4.30, I heard a noise, woke Andy and we looked around couldn't see anyone, it must have been Santa.
The girls were up at 5.45, our day had begun, Santa gifts were attacked then it was all the goodies under the tree.
I must say a huge thanks to family and friends for the amazing efforts in sending us gifts, all were fantastic, the girls had a ball.

I've been told it's time for the pud, then a slip on the new slippery slide, hmm that could be interesting.

Painting

Keeping the kids busy over the holidays so far has been easy with art and craft. I introduced to them the art of water colour painting. Here are their first efforts that I am so proud of, these were created without any help from me.

Magic Pudding

This is the first time I've made my mothers Sago Plum Pudding recipe. Every year we've eaten this pudding for Christmas which was made by my mum. This year however we are across the other side of the country, away from our families, so I've had a go at it. I hope it works.

Mixing the Christmas pud and making a wish.

Argh, what's with the hair

Cardtastrophie

The challenge of card house building, finally after much frustration, she did it.

Chrissie Bickies

Both girls had Christmas parties at school on the same day, which was perfect for a huge biscuit bake. Giving shop bought produce to share is just not something I do. What a great afternoon we had, making, rolling, pressing out, baking, decorating 74 biscuits, and then finally lots of licking.

Ava's Impossible Christmas Wish List

Here is a wish list that I don't think even Santa could help with. Our little 4 year old rattled this off to her dad, who didn't even hesitate in his writing to jot it down.

Flying mosquito
Brown doggy paddling in water
Pretend pillow that floats in the air
Walking plant that follows me
New scissors - not difficult to get, however we do have plenty
Dolly that dresses by itself
Floating balloon that is remote control

It's just priceless

Nativity

Oh my gosh, my big girl was chosen to play Mary in the nativity scene in the school Christmas concert. All of her little friends were so cute and brave performing in front of a packed house, or I should say garden. Yes we were beaming with pride.

Shag a delic

Our retro party was based on this amazing shag pile carpet feature wall. The things you find when renting. This was such a laugh we actually wanted to rent this house for the wall and other fabulous 70's decor. Upon leaving the party after much fun was had playing twister, guests were required to have their photo in front of the wall. Here are the players.

Don't worry that is my hubby
